Seminole Leaders Join to Endorse Miller
Sheriff Lemma and Local Officials Stand with Mike
Orlando, FL – Today, a group of elected and business leaders across Seminole County threw their support behind Mike Miller in his campaign to unseat incumbent Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy.
Seminole County Sheriff, Dennis Lemma stated, “I believe that you possess the qualities needed in a champion for the issues that lie before us. I’ve seen you do it in Tallahassee and admire your drive to represent this community on a larger scale. It is because of these qualities that I am pleased to offer you my endorsement in your campaign to be the next congressman representing Florida’s 7th District.”
Seminole County Commissioner Brenda Carey said, “Seminole County has 3,500 new jobs because of the work of Governor Scott and our representatives including, Mike Miller. We need to continue the momentum!” She went on to add, “I am very disappointed we have a current representative who does not look out for our community or has an open dialogue with elected officials, it is time for a change.”
The event today was emceed by Seminole County School Board Chairwoman, Amy Lockhart, who said, “I am so pleased to support Mike Miller for Congress. He understands the important issues facing education because he listens to what is going on in our local community.”
Sheriff Lemma went on to add, “Although Mike Miller has not directly represented Seminole County in the Florida House, he has always sought out elected officials, like myself, and asked our opinion before making important decisions. I don’t always get involved in races like this, but we need our voice back in Washington. Mike Miller will be a strong ambassador for law enforcement and our military. He will fight for strong borders and ensure that no community in Central Florida becomes a sanctuary city. We can tuck our children into bed at night knowing a statesman like Mike Miller is serving us. If you are an independent on the line and not sure who you should vote for in this race, you need to vote for Mike Miller. If you are a Democrat who believes it is important to preserve our safety and our quality of life, you should vote for Mike Miller”.
Sheriff Lemma joined Representative Bob Cortes, County Commissioners Brenda Carey and John Horan, School Board Chairwoman, Amy Lockhart, School Board Member Tina Calderone and other local officials in pledging their support for Miller.
“I had the privilege of sitting to the left of Mike Miller on the House floor,” said Rep. Scott Plakon. “I have seen him push the green button for the fight against opioids, for struggling women, for $400 million to keep our kids safe, for a balanced budget, and for $330 million in tax cuts. We need to send Mike Miller and his wisdom from Florida, to Washington to straighten things out.”
Rep. Bob Cortes added, “I am honored to stand in support with Mike. We served in the Florida House together and I know he has taken some votes that were not popular. But he did it, and that’s what makes him the best candidate for Congress. We need to send Mike Miller to Congress and we have thirty-six days to do it.”
Other officials endorsing Miller, but unable to attend include:
Representative Jason Brodeur
Commissioner Lee Constantine
Commissioner Bob Dallari
Commissioner Carlton Henley
School Board Member Karen Almond
